North Shore Rotary is proud to celebrate the completion of the redevelopment of the new therapy pool, hall, and playground at Wairau Valley Special School.

This project has been many years in the making, with former Milford Rotarians leading extensive fundraising efforts to help bring the vision to life. During a recent vocational visit, club members had the opportunity to see the nearly completed facilities and learn more about the positive impact they will have on students and their families.

Principal Natalie Todd shared how the purpose-built therapy pool will provide regular aquatic therapy sessions for students, supporting their physical development, wellbeing and learning. The wider redevelopment has also transformed the school environment, with new playgrounds, improved accessibility and inviting outdoor spaces.

Many of our members later attended the official opening celebration, where Natalie expressed her appreciation for Rotary’s contribution and the considerable funds raised over the years. Seeing students and staff enjoying these outstanding new facilities was a wonderful reminder of the lasting difference Rotary can make when communities come together behind a shared goal.

We congratulate Wairau Valley Special School on this significant milestone. We are delighted to have played a part in helping create a facility that will benefit students for generations to come.
